                                                                    HEAD FOOTBALL COACH OF NORTH CAROLINA TECH:
                                                                    Tim Newman was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Olympic high school. At Olympic high school he was an All-County running back. He went on to Johnson C. Smith University on a four year scholarship. He was Rookie of the Year in 1982 and Team MVP in 1985 and 1986 and was voted WGIV’s MVP of the game 22 times. Tim’s biggest game as a Johnson C. Smith Golden Bull consisted of 29 carries for 247 yards and three touchdowns. Tim is the 3rd All-Time Leading Rusher in school history at Johnson C. Smith University.Tim was a free agent with the New York Jets in 1987 and played in the World Indoor League with the Las Vegas Aces in 1990. He was a head coach in the CharlotteMecklenburg School System. His record was 26-3. He had two Northern Division Championships.He went on to the Professional Minor League level, the North American Football League (NAFL). As head coach of the Charlotte Stallions his total record was 10-0. He then went on the be the head coach for the Carolina Cowboys. His total record with the Cowboys was 46-2. In three years as the coach for the Carolina Cowboys his team was unbeaten at home and never lost a game when they were the home team. His team averaged 40 points per game and only allowed nine points per game. His teams have ranked in the top four in the country. Tim has had several players sign with teams in the NFL, AF1, AF2, and the Canadian Football League.In 2003, Tim was named head football coach at Barber-Scotia College. He was the first football coach in the history of the college. In January 2005, he was named head football coach at Louisburg College.He is now the athletic Director and Head Football Coach for North Carolina Tech Preparatory Christian Academy. His record with NC Tech is currently 65-5, with a lifetime record of 155-9, making Coach Newman one of the winningest coaches in North Carolina.. Under Coach Newman’s leadership, NC Tech has won 2 National Championships as well as lead the Nation in scoring the past 3 seasons either in NFL, College, or High School. Coach Newman is an offensive wizard; in 2006, Coach Newman led the Tigers to average 70 points per game on offense, in 2007, they averaged 57 points per game, and in 2008 averaged 50 points per game. In his career Coach Newman has averaged 55 points per game. Such success has led Coach Newman to become one of the most respected coaches throughout the country. This was seen in 2008 when Coach Newman was the 2008 National Prep School Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.Those who have played under Coach Newman have reaped the fruits of his success as there have been 17 players on the National Prep School Athletic Conference 1st Team and 15 players on the 2nd team who have played under Coach Newman. Newman has coached 22 All-Americans and sent over 173 kids to school, gaining roughly $4 million in total scholarship money. If you have an opportunity for your son to play for Coach Newman, that would be a blessing to your son as well as Coach Newman. He comes to you with a wealth of experience working with young people.

                                                                    Attended Johnson C. Smith University for four years.           
                                                                    Attended American InterContinental University where he received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. 
                                                                    Currently coach Newman is working on his Master’s Degree in Sports/Business administration at American InterContinental University.



                                                                    Coach Newman has been very active in the Charlotte community for many years. He has received the Trail Blazer Award from the Charlotte Civic League. He also received the Leadership Award for his All-American Football Camp. This camp helped over 1700 inner city kids and their families for over five years. Football was hardly the focus. The free camp focused on peer pressure and making the right choices. Tim was voted in as Vice President of the National Football League Alumni, Carolinas Chapter of North and South Carolina in 2004. Their motto is “Caring for Kids.”Tim is on the Board of South Tryon Community Corporation.In May, 2006, Tim was named the Site Director for the National Football League Junior Player Development Camp in Charlotte, NC.Tim has strong Christian values. He enjoys his family life with his wife Gail and children; Desiree’ (8), Tim (5), and Jacob (3)

                                                                    Askia Alkebulan (Assistant Head Coach / Co-Defensive Coordinator/ Defensive Line / Recruiting Coordinator)

                                                                    Entering into his fourth season, Askia Alkebulan has moved to the Defensive staff to coach the defensive line and help bring a mental and physical toughness to NC Tech’s already talented defense. This Buffalo, NY native and former Police Officer attended and played 3 years of varsity football at Riverside High School and 2 years varsity football at Canisius College; he also played 2 years in the North Eastern Alliance football league. Coach Alkebulan is also Head of Football Operations, Housing Coordinator, and Director of the Life Skills Program. Coach Alkebulan has seen 5 NC Tech alumni tight ends offered scholarships by Division I or Division II schools  Dante Burton (University of Buffalo), Jeff Hutchinson (Ohio University), Randy James (Bethune-Cookman), Quinton Morgan (West Virginia Tech), Jordan Bookhart (Brevard College). Coach Alkebulan has 2 children; a son Elias (20) attending Buffalo State College and daughter Jazmine (18) plans to attend Trocaire College this fall for her freshmen year.

                                                                    Originally from Castaic, California, Marino went to Springfield College and received a Bachelor's of Science in Sport Management in May 2011. He played cornerback at Springfield for 4 years and was the punt returner his senior year. In the spring of 2010 Marino interned with the Springfield College Football program and in spring 2011 he interned in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at Cardinal Gibbons High School for Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Michael Morrill.

                                                                    In his first year as the video director for NC Tech Tigers, Samuel recently graduated from broadcasting school.

                                                                    Evelyn Kendrick was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and went on to attend Central Piedmont Community College and Kings College (University). For a number of years she worked for Belk Stores Services. Evelyn currently works for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.
